This privacy policy explains how What's for Dinner? ("the App", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information.
Account Information
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account. This is used solely to identify your account and sync your data.
Ingredients & Recipes
The ingredients you enter and the recipes generated are processed by a third-party AI service (OpenAI) to create personalised recipes. Ingredient lists are sent to this service but are not stored by us beyond your current session unless you choose to save a recipe.
Saved Data
Recipes you save, your meal planner entries, pantry items, and grocery lists are stored locally on your device and in Firebase Cloud Firestore to enable syncing across devices. This data is only associated with your account and is not shared with third parties.
Location Data
The App may request access to your device location to find nearby shops and restaurants. Location data is not stored or transmitted to our servers. It is used only within the App at the time of your request.
Voice Input
If you use the voice input feature, audio is processed by your device's built-in speech recognition service (Apple Speech or Google Speech Services). Audio is not recorded, stored, or sent to our servers.
Barcode Scanning
When you scan a product barcode, the barcode number is sent to the Open Food Facts API to look up the product name. No personal data is shared in this process.
Device Information
We collect a unique device identifier to manage recipe usage limits for free-tier users. This identifier is not linked to your personal identity.

Free-tier users may see ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve personalised ads. You can opt out of personalised advertising through your device settings. Pro subscribers do not see ads.
